The Saint Andrew Society of Sarasota (SASS) was formed in 1979 to provide social and cultural activities relating to Scottish heritage and to give emphasis to Sarasota's settlement by Scots (in 1885). Our 501(c)(3), St. Andrew Scottish Society Scholarship Fund, Inc. (SASSF), since 1990, has given $206,000 in scholarships to 175 qualified (of Scottish decent and/or involvement) college-bound high school seniors from Manatee and Sarasota Counties and Lemon Bay in Charlotte County. Our most recent award year, 2026 saw an increase in award dollars mainly due to Giving Challenge matching resources.
